The Rottweiler Breed
Rottweilers are solid companions as well as excellent protectors. Their history dates back to the Roman empire spanning the centuries providing their owners with a robust and loyal guardian. They are strong, agile dogs with self confidence and intellectual tact.
The rottweiler breed could date back to the first century. While the AKC recognized the breed in 1931, they were known as guard and heard dogs in the middle ages. Rottweilers not only saw action in World War 1 and World War 2. The breed is still in use in militaries all over the world. Rotties have found happy homes with families all over the world for hundreds of years.
Rottweilers are, by standard, black coated with well defined tan to mahogany markings. It is a large to medium large dog. Desired traits for modern rotties include a german style box headed look with darker mahogany markings. They should stand tall and self confident to give the impression of strength and reliability.
